Chipping, Pitching - Lofting
All too often I see the oh so popular
flop “Flop” or “Lofted” pitch shot
that falls short of the intended target. By observation
of touring pros who chip or pitch you can readily see that
the majority of shots that go in are moving quickly, not
lobbed, but running. This means they are using less lofted
shorts for their chips.
I encourage the use of 6 irons &
7 irons where a long chip exists that is over 60 feet and
a loft of not more than 5 feet is required. It has been
proven repeatedly that a “bump & run” 7
iron is at a minimum 50% more accurate that any wedge that
is lofted towards the same target.
Try it!!! Practice these shots and
watch 2-4 strokes come off your 18 hole total.
Until next time... Fairways
and greens!
